Who Was Where - Location Records

There are several official sources of where people lived through the ages – I’ve already put information from Census reports, Directory listings and Electoral Rolls on the website. There are other sources such as Probate reports which record addresses at the time of death.

These are clearly very useful, but do not necessarily cover all locations – for example, someone may move house twice or more between Census dates.

The UK Census reports have also just reached a problem …..
The 1921 Census has just been released.
However, the 1931 Census records were destroyed by fire and the 1941 Census never took place because of WW2.
This means that the next UK Census to be released will be the 1951 Census, to be released in 2052!

So …. I decided to add the functionality for any of us to add Location Records to our data, where we can register addresses where we know our family have resided at some time in the past (or present!).
We are not trying to record every house ever lived in, but maybe any address that would be considered ‘permanent’, say for 2 months or so, or longer.
I have started by adding some details for my family, starting with my paternal grandparents (##46072/46572), my parents (##47073/47573) and myself and two brothers and our wives (##48058/48059/48060/48558/48559/48560). Search for any of those Mal-ID references on the Census page to see what could be possible.

If you want to add anything for your family, email me with details of:
– Who was living there – as much detail as possible (Mal-ID would be great!)
– When they were there (just one date, not a from-to range) – at least a year but with a month (and day if known) is better
– What is the address – minimum of a town, but a street/house address is better
– What any of the people were doing for a living (optional)
– Any notes that are significant to the date given (optional)
